Parkend

Parkend is a village, located at the foot of the Cannop Valley, in the Royal Forest of Dean, West Gloucestershire, England, and has a history dating back to the early 17th century. During the 19th century it was a busy industrial village with several coal mines, an ironworks, stoneworks, timber-yard and a tinplate works. The Parkend steam railway station is still in use today with many tourist attractions throughout the year.

Parkend has a traditional village green in the centre which hosts many events including the annual carnival, weekly cricket matches and regular boot sales.

Whitemead Holiday Park is in five minute walking distance from the cottage. It boasts excellent health and beauty facitilites with a wide range of family activities and an evening entertainment venue.

Parkend has two village pubs that are both family and pet friendly. The food at both establishments is excellent. The pubs specialise in traditional and local cask ales.
